Decathlon spring competition 2013

Last week we organized small unofficial agility competition, which turned out to be not small at all (over 60 competitors). It idea was first of all to let Flaszek have his debut in totally stress-free environment, second of all to give other people with young unexperienced dogs chance to have their debut in stress-free atmosphere and last but not least let people train and reward their dogs in competition-like atmosphere. So one run was a training run - everybody got 1,5 minutes on the course, they could reward start line stays, contacts or whatever they wanted and the judges (who were experienced agility competitors) made sure everything was safe and offered suggestions to struggling teams. The whole thing was rather succesful, everybody was helping, the weather was fantastic considering it was the beginning of March (no rain, snow or wind whatsoever :)).

Flaszek was quite stressed in the beginning and he did not run as fast as he can, but still, he was able to run short sequences so we consider it a huge success :). We try to provide him with as many positive experiences as possible and learn on the way so we can work out the best possible starting routine for him. The other dogs were great as usual and even had their wins in the second run, which was "for real" with prizes and all (Sunday won really pretty pink rosette <3). Sunday was particularly good girl because a chinese crested dog on a retractable leash run into the course when she was running and she didn't pay any attention to him (Tunnel!!!) and still had clean run. 

W zeszłym tygodniu zorganizowaliśmy niewielkie zawody treningowe, które okazały się nie być takie niewielkie (ponad 60 zgłoszonych teamów). Generalnie chodziło nam o to, by Flaszek mógł zadebiutować w bezstresowej atmosferze :D, by inne początkujące psy mogły zadebiutować w bezstresowej atmosferze oraz by ludzie mogli sobie potrenować w atmosferze zawodów i ponagradzać zostawanie na starcie, strefy i tak dalej. Jeden z biegów był więc czysto treningowy, sędzia czuwał nad bezpieczeństwem i podpowiadał początkującym, co mogą zrobić w danej sytuacji. Wszystko fajnie się udało, zawodnicy pomagali, pogoda jak na początek marca była super (żadnego deszczu, śniegu lub wiatru).

Flaszek na początku był bardzo zestresowany i nie biegł tak szybko jak potrafi na treningach, jednak uporał się z krótką sekwencją, więc uważamy to za sukces. Staramy się zapewnić mu jak najwięcej tego typu pozytywnych doświadczeń, a przy okazji uczymy się, żeby opracować jak najlepszy dla niego rytuał startowy. Powyżej filmik z jego pierwszego biegu.

Starzy wymiatacze byli super jak zawsze, zwłaszcza spaniel, który w ogóle nie zauważył grzywka, który wbiegł nam na tor i zdołał mieć czysty bieg mimo takich drobiazgów :). Wygrała zarąbiście piękną różową rozetkę :).
